The Franklin Fund for students of the TRIUM Global Executive MBA Program
In December 2025 Professor Larry Franklin established the new “Laurence C. Franklin Endowed Scholarship Fund (The Franklin Fund) for students of the TRIUM Global Executive MBA Program” by giving a gift to TRIUM of US$100,000 from the Morris S. Smith Foundation, of which he was and is a Trustee. TRIUM kindly agreed to match his gift dollar for dollar making the initial principal amount of the Franklin Fund US$200,000.
The Franklin Fund was established for three purposes:
- To show Professor Franklin’s appreciation to TRIUM for giving him the privilege of teaching for many years in the TRIUM Global Executive MBA Program’s Asia Module.
- To provide a partial-tuition scholarship award each year to a student in the TRIUM Program.
- To encourage friends and alumni of the TRIUM Program to consider donating to this and similar Endowed Scholarship Funds to benefit TRIUM students. Each annual award from the Franklin Fund is called a Franklin Scholarship Award.
Eligibility of a TRIUM Student to Receive a Franklin Scholarship Award
A TRIUM Global Executive MBA Program student is eligible to receive a Franklin Scholarship Award under the following criteria:
- They are a new incoming student or has recently enrolled as a student in the TRIUM Program and is in good standing.
- They have “demonstrated financial aid need” as stated in TRIUM’s Scholarship Award application process.
There are no other requirements or preferences for awarding a Franklin Scholarship Award based on gender, academic background, experience, or otherwise.
Management of the Franklin Fund
The Franklin Fund Management Committee at TRIUM is composed of the Executive Director of TRIUM and her/his appointees. The Committee established policies, procedures, and guidelines for managing all aspects of the Franklin Fund, including how the Franklin Scholarship Award recipient is selected. Each fall, the Committee will select the Franklin Scholarship Award recipient and will give the Award money to the recipient.
