We could take the module to many locations in Asia but we’ve decided to go to Seoul in South Korea, because it sits at the meeting point of many global forces: geopolitical factors that are affecting the marketplaces in Asia.

And this is a great location for us to explore both the global macro-tension that exists between China and the United States, but also to look at other regions – East Asia, South East Asia – that are emerging as major business hubs and centres of innovation. We take advanced strategy courses to the module, but we will also focus on the interaction between strategy, technological change, and innovation.

The location in Seoul is ideal for that because here we have many examples of now globally operating firms that have started out on a much smaller scale, and through technological adaptation and innovation have grown into world leaders based on their technological expertise and innovative capacity.

Seoul is home to many famous global corporations but there’s also a lively startup scene, one that’s engaging the technological changes that are reshaping markets in the digital space in the application of AI and in robotics, and so our students will be able to explore this in a deep dive into the technology scene in the region, but also looking at the business models that have emerged.
