Gisela Sangha-Wührer

When Gisela enrolled in TRIUM, she was Head of Wealth Consulting at Credit Suisse Austria with 15 years of experience in multinational financial services. Of the EMBA programs available to her, she chose TRIUM because it offered “the unique combination of a global platform of high calibre professionals, outstanding academics and… well, fun,” she says. “It was the only program to offer six modules of two weeks on campus studies. With approximately 4 months between the modules this is a challenge but still compatible with a full time job.”

I am very intrigued by the idea of lifelong learning, I always wanted to do an executive MBA, and thought it would be particularly interesting to go back to university with the professional experience you have already.

The ‘fun’ came from the strong bonds formed with her fellow students and the immersive global experience of the various modules, which offset the challenges and rigor of what Gisela describes as the program’s ‘incredibly demanding environment.’

Gisela’s return on investment from the program was both personal—gaining confidence from having “the courage to embark on such a prestigious and rigorous program,” and professional—landing a new position at Credit Suisse in a senior project management role at Credit Suisse headquarters in Zürich.
When TRIUM announced, as part of its Silicon Valley module, a new collaboration with Singularity University—renowned for its focus on disruption, technological change, and forward thinking—and invited alums to participate, Gisela jumped at the opportunity.

You learn how to push your own boundaries—this is exactly the core of the experience, not only academically, but in terms of workload and in terms of multitasking. One of the biggest takeaways you take back to your professional life is a can-do attitude.

In January 2017, she joined the TRIUM Class of 2018 in California for a day at SU to explore topics such as the power of exponential (versus linear) thinking, fintec, cyber security, robotics, exponential medicine – all connected to the disruptive nature of technological change.

The focus on exponential thinking in the face of unexpected change struck a chord with Gisela, she says: “The disruption we will see across all industries will be profound and the changes are far beyond our imagination. SU presented these concepts and ideas in a very tangible way and we didn’t shy away from discussing the consequences on our societies, the economic system and, last but not least, the environment. Singularity is on the cutting edge of the tech world and their thought leadership was inspiring and scary at the same time.”
